The Honeycomb Press

How to read our label.

A drip of golden honey falling from a wooden dipper onto dark slate

Most skincare labels are written to be skimmed. Ours are written to be read. Every formula we make publishes its full ingredient list, in order, with the source of each ingredient and what it does for your skin. This is how to read one.

Start at the top. Ingredients are listed in descending order of weight, so the first lines tell you what a formula mostly is. The Beeswax Vitamin C Moisturizer opens with purified water, the base of the formula, then aloe leaf juice and squalane from olives. No mystery base, no proprietary complex.

Read to the very end. The last line of our lists is silver citrate and citric acid, the natural preservative. Most brands stop publishing before they get there. We think the preservative is exactly the kind of thing you should be able to look up, which is why it sits in the library with everything else.

Look for the source. Every entry in our glossary carries one: squalane derived from olives, camellia oil from the seeds of the tea plant, beeswax produced by honey bees in the family operation. If an ingredient earns its place, it can say where it came from.

Hold it to the kitchen standard. Every ingredient meets EWG and YUKA standards. That is the whole reading rule, the one the formulas are built on: nothing synthetic, nothing hidden.

The full glossary lives in the ingredient library, every one of the 135 ingredients we use across the collection, with the source and function detailed for each of our core formulas.
